Our Parent Coaching Series offers parents space to grow and learn while their child is doing the same! Parents join us in getting to know experts specializing in wellness, play, education and so much more!
Most of us are aware that attachment is an important part of healthy development. Yet we may not know exactly why attachment is so important or understand how secure attachment occurs. Secure attachment has been linked to many positive child outcomes, including healthy brain development, social emotional development, and self regulation. In this training caregivers will learn why secure attachment matters and the behaviors that build it.
Children and Adolescents can sometimes behave in mysterious ways; at least that's what we often think. Understanding behavior may seem challenging, but with the right tools, it can be as easy as ABC. All behavior has a function and sometimes a basic understanding of what happened before and after a behavior can give us enough information to make positive environmental changes in order to help our children better navigate challenging situations. In this training, caregivers will learn how to better identify the function of behaviors and how to initiate a few positive interventions.
For many parents their first introduction to ABA, or Applied Behavioral Analysis, is a result of their child being recommended for ABA services. As one can imagine, this can be a very confusing time for parents and feel like a whirlwind, making it hard to fully grasp and understand the therapy your child is being recommended for. This confusion can often lead to misconceptions of what ABA is and what services will look like. In this presentation caregivers will learn a bit about the science of ABA and gain a better understanding of what can be expected within these services.
